- Purchase solar yard lights (on sale!) and have for indoor use when power is out. Follow the manufacturer's directions for charging the solar power cells. The alternative is candles with their inherent fire risk.
- Keep large black plastic garbage bags on hand - both for sanitation purposes (see sanitation tab) and garbage disposal (see next idea bullet).
- With water at a premium, you won't want to use your precious drinking/cooking water for doing dishes. Have paper- and plasticware on hand for convenience. Flatware, too!
